FG To Begin Nationwide Verification of Civil Servants’ Records to Boost Efficiency
The Federal Government has launched a nationwide verification of civil servants’ personnel records in a move to enhance efficiency and reform the public workforce.
According to an internal memo signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Walson-Jack, and obtained by our correspondent on Monday in Abuja, the exercise will run from October 16 to November 14, 2025.
The verification, to be carried out by Philips Consulting and other human resource firms, aims to update personnel records, identify skills gaps, and support ongoing workforce reforms across all ministries, departments, and agencies including federal offices abroad.

The memo, titled “Verification Exercise,” directed all civil servants to cooperate fully and provide accurate information during the process.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved a comprehensive Personnel and Salary System Governance Audit to promote professionalism and improve service delivery in the federal service.
Dr. Walson-Jack described the initiative as a key reform under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025, noting that it would help create a credible and verifiable database capturing not just the number of workers, but also their skills, competencies, and distribution across government agencies.
She added that data from the exercise would guide evidence-based planning, targeted training, strategic deployment, and transparent succession planning, ensuring capacity building where it is most needed.
The outcome of the verification, she said, will inform future decisions on recruitment, promotions, postings, training, and succession within the federal civil service.
