“We said prayers for our country and our people; we should continue the good deeds as taught by the holy month of Ramadan—caring for the vulnerable, the orphans, and the less privileged. Everything that we have observed, we should not revert to actions that go against these teachings,” Tinubu stated.

Atiku Advocates for Leaders to Prioritize Citizens’ Welfare

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar urged government officials to prioritize policies that ensure the continued welfare of Nigerians. He emphasized that beyond Ramadan, leaders must uphold the principles of justice and good governance, ensuring sustainable support for the less privileged.

“While Ramadan encourages charity, it is imperative for leaders to initiate interventions that will sustain the well-being of citizens after the fasting period,” Atiku remarked.

Obi Calls for Love and Unity

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, called on Nigerians to allow the love and spirit of Ramadan to guide their daily actions. He expressed hopes for a nation where unity and mutual respect thrive.

“I sincerely join the Muslim faithful in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr and pray that the blessings of Ramadan will remain with us. May love live in our hearts, peace flourish in our nation, and security be restored within our borders,” Obi stated in a message signed by his media aide, Ibrahim Umar.

Governors Emphasize Peace, Compassion, and Good Governance

Governors across Nigeria also shared goodwill messages, encouraging citizens to sustain the virtues of Ramadan. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged Muslims to maintain a spirit of selflessness and kindness, particularly towards the needy.

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State stressed the importance of patience and unity, while Ondo State’s Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa called for increased commitment to love and social cohesion. Similarly, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State encouraged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, tolerance, and mutual respect.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri emphasized the need for continuous prayers for peace and sustainable development in Nigeria. Edo State Governor Monday Okoebholo reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and inclusivity.

CAN Advocates for Law and Order

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) congratulated Muslims on the completion of Ramadan and called for collective action against lawlessness. CAN urged citizens to embody the values of prayer, fasting, and charity while promoting peace and justice in society.

Other Leaders Call for Tolerance and Social Responsibility

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje assured Nigerians that their confidence in the Tinubu administration would not be misplaced, urging continued faith in the government’s leadership. Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, emphasized national unity, calling for reconciliation and collaboration among citizens.

Similarly, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade I, stressed the importance of leadership rooted in service, tolerance, and ethical governance. He called on Nigerians to foster harmony and cooperation to achieve national transformation.
