The prime suspect, who remains unnamed, admitted to receiving ₦50,000 for each girl sent to Mauritania, including her 19-year-old daughter. Police say she was introduced to the illegal operation by another woman, who has since been jailed for a similar crime.

Her accomplice claimed she was initially told the girls were being recruited as domestic workers. However, after one victim she referred was rejected due to her age and body size, she became suspicious and distanced herself from the scheme.

Ayuba confirmed that the suspects confessed during interrogation and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.

In a related development, the Ogun State Police Command recently arrested a 28-year-old woman, Opeyemi Adetoro, for allegedly trafficking three girls to Libya without their parents’ consent.
